Pools of Light Rock Crystal Beads Necklace
This Pools of Light necklace is comprised of sphere rock crystals, known in the East, as "Pools of Light." They are guaranteed to be natural colorless quartz, being optically perfect. Legend reports the source of these beads from the Northern slope of Mount Fujiyama in Japan, where they can be found in the springtime due to the alternate thawing and freezing or the ground, finding their way into the stream beds. Eventually they wash down the mountainside until they appear, tumbled smooth by their journey. They are polished to perfection in world famous lapidary shops in the village of Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture. They were especially revered by Chinese Mandarins, who included them in their regalia of office. Around 1930, the supply seemes to have exhausted itself and the original beads, made into these necklaces, are a true discovery. These rock crystal beads are beautifully banded with a silver wire, The banding around each bead is a base silver metal. This is a significant necklace, which can be doubled or worn as a single strand to make a statement. There are 70 beads in the strand, each bead measuring 1/2” (12mm)in diameter. The length of the necklace is 56" inches and the total weight is 189 grams.
